You can choose to use it for any spell or ritual. Though it is not necessary to cast a circle for every spell or ritual, it can make a spell or ritual stronger.
What is the purpose of a magick circle?
The magick circle is one of the most powerful tools in the history and practice of magick. Rituals, invocations and evocations can be performed inside its boundary. Thus, it is important to cast a circle in the correct way, in order to create a sacred space.
What location is the right place to cast a magick circle?
A magick circle can be cast indoors or outdoors. People have cast circles in places like a bedroom, an auditorium, a clearing in the forest, near a lake, anywhere that appealed to their inner senses. The main thing is to find as place that is safe - and that resonates with you. If you happen to cast a circle in a small apartment, that you might share with others, just make sure you will have some alone time to complete your ritual. Interruptions can delay the results that you want - or prevent them altogether. Make sure the area is cleared of any mess, or in the case that you are outdoors, clear away any brush, leaves or sticks.
What can I use to mark the circle?
You can use various materials to mark the circle, such as salt, flour, baby powder, chalk, sand, pebbles and rocks. Just make sure you clear up any mess afterward.
What if I live in a crowded space, and there is nowhere I can go to cast a circle?
There may be cases where it is not possible or convenient to cast a physical circle. You can choose a space to sit or stand, in a place of quiet and solitude. It could be your bedroom, a patio, a corner of the backyard, or even the local library. Wherever you feel you have some time to yourself. Then closing your eyes, picture a glowing circle encompassing you. You can widen it or shorten it, according to your needs. You can make it any color you want, any size you want.
How do I cast the circle?
First, gather all the supplies needed to place inside the circle. This could include candles, matches, figures, incense, or sage, any other items you feel necessary, that are personal and sacred to your ritual. Be careful to not cause a fire. If casting a circle outdoors in the woods or forest, you should not use any matches or candles, as that could create a fire hazard.
Mark your circle. Make sure that whatever materials you use to create the circle, that there is no opening left. The circle should have a tight boundary and be completely closed.
Bless the circle. Walk around inside the circle and recite a prayer or statement, that you wish to purify and bless the inner workings of the circle.
Invoke any spirits or gods that you wish to help you to achieve your goal or purpose. You can stand, arms outstretched or above your head, calling to the deities or those you wish to help you achieve your ultimate purpose in the ritual.
Repeat the purpose of your ritual 3 times, as you walk around inside the circle. You can walk inside the circle, keeping close to the boundary line, as many times as you wish, until you feel the Universe has heard your purpose.
Complete the Circle. Make sure to thank and pay homage to the elements and deities that you have worked with in your ritual. Their help will make your spell or ritual stronger.
Close the circle. Cut a doorway through the circle, then begin closing your circle but reversing the circle, via cleaning it as you go around the perimeter. Make sure to gather all the supplies you used and take them with you or put them away.
That’s it! I hope you enjoy casting your own magick circles for spells and rituals.
