Telepathy

Have you ever thought of someone and then they contacted you out of the blue? Or vice versa? Have you ever had a bad feeling about a close relative, and at that same moment something troubling was happening to them? Have you ever dreamed of a friend that shared some ideas/thoughts with you, and then upon waking, it turned out to be true?  If that’s the case, you may have been experiencing telepathy.

Telepathy is the assumed exchanging or connection of thoughts or images linking up via other than the known senses. Unlike clairvoyance or intuition, telepathy is a more infrequent occurrence.

What Different Types of Telepathy Are There?

I have a theory that there are two different types of telepathy: what I call “awake telepathy” and “dream telepathy”. It is the duality of our existence that telepathy can cross over from waking life into the dream state.

“Awake telepathy” – can involve thoughts, feelings or images that you pick up in waking life, and can directly connect to someone you know, or even a stranger that you encounter.

“Dream telepathy” – can involve thoughts, feelings or images that you pick up in the dream state, and can directly connect to someone you know, or even a stranger that you encounter.

For example: Let’s imagine you dream of sitting down at a table with a friend of yours. This friend has blond hair. In the dream, she tells you she is thinking about dyeing her hair red. You wake up, and remembering the dream, you call her, letting her know about your dream. She tells you that she is surprised, that she had been thinking about coloring her hair red - but had not told anyone about it yet.

We would call this telepathy.

Here’s another example: You dream that you meet with a relative (who you haven’t contacted in a long time) in your dream, who shares with you that they have been unhappy at their job for a long time and are thinking of quitting.  The following week you run into them at a family gathering. During a conversation with you, they share that they have had several problems at their job, and are considering quitting.

Again, we would call this telepathy. In both instances, the dreamer was able to pick up on accurate information about someone else, in the dream state - that they were able to confirm upon waking.

Therein lies one of the keys to telepathy. Individuals who are more open and sensitive, are more likely to have telepathic abilities, in addition to being intuitive or clairvoyant.  In the dream state, conditions are more conducive to telepathy, because your typical everyday inhibitions are down in the dream state, as compared to waking life.

A fictional example of this would be the movie “Dreamscape”. In it, the lead character, played by Dennis Quaid, has the ability to enter other people’s dream at will and connect with them. Of course, during the course of the movie there are dramatic events that he has to deal with and overcome, but it’s a great example of the skill of dream telepathy.

How Can You Tell if You’re Telepathic?

Keep in mind that it isn’t enough to believe that you are telepathic, with no proof whatsoever. There are many people with mental health issues who believe they can read other people’s minds. Usually, this is called psychosis. It’s a delusional state.

There must be several instances in your lifetime where you were able to pick up thoughts or feelings from someone else with accuracy, without them (or anyone else) sharing any of the information with you through the known senses.

Another thing to note regarding dream telepathy, is that as Sigmund Freud would say, “sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.” It is the same with our dreams. Many times, you will have ordinary dreams, though I would argue there really is no such thing as an ordinary dream. They are unique to each and every one of us.

But you can usually distinguish after a while, the difference between an ordinary dream versus dream telepathy. And you may also start to notice that you are running into a few people several times that seem to enter your dream state at will, to have conversations with you. That’s because they are more open - and are able to enter the dream state with you to link up.

So….learn to focus and concentrate more in your waking and dream life. See what thoughts and impressions come up for you, and if they are at all proven to be accurate. Who knows? You might just be telepathic.
